WHAT IS ISO?

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a standard-setting body made up of representatives from various national standards organizations. It is a non-governmental, international organization having 161 national standards bodies as members.

The IAF is a global organization that brings together organizations engaged in conformity assessment in the areas of management systems, goods and services, employees, and other initiatives of a similar nature. Its main goal is to provide a unified, global conformity assessment program that lowers risk for businesses and their clients by giving them confidence that approved certifications can be trusted. Users are assured through accreditation of the body's competence and objectivity.

Accreditation bodies are organizations like UKAS, EIAC, Jas-Anz, PNAC, ANAB, etc. that are members of the IAF and MLA signatories and grant credentials or certify conformity assessment bodies (i.e. Certification Bodies / Laboratories).

An institution that has been granted accreditation by a recognized accrediting body (EIAC) for its capability to audit and certify that a company complies with a standard (such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001) is known as an accredited registrar, sometimes known as an accredited certification body (CB). Please take note that only EIAC accreditation is permitted in the UAE per law.

There may be a lot of unknowns while choosing the appropriate organization to handle your certification. It has been demonstrated that a certification body conforms with best practices if it has a local office in your city and has been accredited by an accreditation authority that is a signatory to the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA). It is capable of providing a constantly dependable, impartial service that adheres to the necessary, global standard.
